The Womens Institute, Nether Edge Chapter is supported by a committee, who coordinate and plan its events, funding and membership amongst a host of other activities that enable the smooth running of the group.
In this section, we would like to introduce you to our committee:

Hi, I'm Ann Ashforth, a retired School Librarian. I joined WINE when I retired in 2021. I was voted in as President in March 2026. Now I'm not at work I can indulge in my many hobbies, such as learning flower arranging, volunteering at beer festivals, learning French and obviously catching up on all those books I didn't have time to read whilst working!! I join in with some of our splinter groups:- Craft club, Cinema club and Meet and Eat. I must say, I've met a lot of lovely, friendly interesting people through WINE.

I joined W.I.N.E. over 6 years ago and have been involved on the committee for most of that time and have recently taken on the role of secretary. It’s a great team and we work together to plan a diverse and interesting range of activities, learning a few things along the way. The latter part of my working career was spent working with children in a farm environment, planning events and educational visits at Whirlow Hall Farm and Chatsworth. As the saying goes’ Don’t work with children and animals. Working with children and animals has been unpredictable, great fun and there was never a dull day. My days are now spent walking, crafting, reading, drawing, listening to live music, playing crown green bowls and volunteering with visiting groups to the green.

Hello my name's Sue Henwood. I love music, reading, theatre and film. My favourite pastimes are making things, watching wildlife, and listening to my grandchildren chatter.

I'm a lifelong Sheffielder and long time Nether Edge resident. I have been a member of the Women's Institute since 2015

I've lived in Nether Edge for 30 years, and have been a member of WINE since the beginning. I am a retired NHS nurse. I enjoy music, reading, walking, travel and painting.

I have been a member of WINE since it started fifteen years ago. Many of those serving various roles on the committee. It is a friendly and lively group and I have made many friends over the years. I am retired but have lots of interests including three lovely grandchildren.
